Cal Petersen made 19 saves, Andreas Athanasiou scored a brace and the Los Angeles Kings blanked the Buffalo Sabers 3-0 at KeyBank Center.
Petersen posted his second shutout of the season and third of his NHL career.
Dustin Brown was the other scorer for the Kings (30-19-7), who are 7-2-0 in their last nine games. Los Angeles will wrap up a four-game road streak with a matchup against the Boston Bruins on Monday.
Dustin Tokarski stopped 29 shots on the Sabers’ side (18-30-8), which saw a short two-game winning streak come to an end. Buffalo has just two wins in nine outings.
The Kings outshot 15-9 in the first period, but couldn’t beat Tokarski. It was finally Athanasiou who succeeded at 16:55 of the second period. On a 2-on-1 build, he decided to shoot and lodged the puck high. It was his 100th career NHL goal.

The Sabers only fired five shots on net in the third period and were unable to tie the game. Athanasiou at 19:01 and Brown 52 seconds later completed the scoring in an empty net.
The Sabers striker Alex Tuch left the game at 11:05 of the third period after colliding with the post.
Blues 2, Devils 3 (P)
Dougie Hamilton hit the target 1:12 into overtime and the New Jersey Devils held off a comeback attempt by the St. Louis Blues to win 3-2 at the Prudential Center.
The Devils had a 2-0 lead after two periods, but saw the game fall by just 3:36 early in the third period, when Torey Krug and Jordan Kyrou tied the game by scoring back-to-back.
In addition to Hamilton, Ty Smith and Dawson Mercer scored for the Devils (20-31-5), who had lost their last two games.
Jack Hughes collected two assists, while the goalkeeper Nico Daws made 19 saves.
Among the Blues (32-16-7), Kyrou also amassed an assist, while Vladimir Tarasenko participated in two nets of his own.
City Husso won in front of 30 shots in front of the St. Louis net, which suffered a third consecutive loss (0-2-1).
Smith opened the scoring at 9:47 of the first period. He scored his second goal of the season, his first since November 9, completing a fine passing game with the forwards Jesper Bratt and Nico Hischier.
Mercer made it 2-0 for the Devils at 9:26 of the second period. He completed a nice pass from Hughes on the right side of the net.

Kyrou tied the game at 5:44 on a cross pass from the striker Brayden Schenn. He has 10 points (four goals, six assists) in a series of seven games with at least one point.
Hamilton saved the Devils in overtime. A striker’s handover Pavel Zasha allowed him to come alone in front of Husso, whom he foiled in the skylight after a feint.
