Marc Gasol and the NBA: « The door is not completely closed »

Marc Gasol (2.11 m, 37 years old in a few days) joined Básquet Girona, a LEB Oro club – the 2nd Spanish division – of which he is also president, but in an interview with Cadenaser, he claims not to have made his Final farewell to the NBA.

“The door isn’t completely closed, I’m not saying I’m going back or considering it, but I know there’s interest from them… The most special thing we have is this is the time. We have a limited time and each of us decides how we invest it. I wanted to give this time to a people and a city where they supported me in difficult times for me on a sporting level when I started my career at 21 years old.

The Gasol’s younger brother explains that he never thought of stopping off in Barcelona:

“I never considered going to Barça, to be honest. First, honestly, I couldn’t see myself there. I did not have the physical guarantees for what I demanded of myself. I decided to take a step back and start from scratch. Now I feel a lot better and I’m starting to have that security in my body.”
