The center didn’t play in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators due to an undisclosed injury. This is the first game he missed this season.

“His case will be assessed daily,” coach Sheldon Keefe said Wednesday. “He’s working hard and he’s not far from being able to play. He’s improving every day, so we’ll see how he feels tomorrow. »

Matthews’ last game was on Sunday, when he scored in 17:29 in a 6-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Keefe clarified that his striker was not injured in the duel against the Flyers, but rather it is an injury that has been bothering him for a while.

Matthews had scored at least one point in his last five games (three goals, four assists) and has 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists) in 41 games this season.
