Due to Eurovision, Manchester City will play Everton on Sunday, which doesn’t really please the Spanish technician.

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, forced to play his league match against Everton on Sunday because of Eurovision organized the day before in Liverpool, complained on Friday about this postponement which deprives his team of a day of recovery before their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

The Citizens coach would have preferred to play the match on Saturday in Liverpool as originally planned but, with Eurovision organized in the city that day, his wish could not be granted for security reasons.

« In the end we can’t play on Saturday because of Eurovision or something like that in Liverpool and sometimes we don’t have enough (law enforcement) forces to handle two important events“, he quipped.

« There’s not much to do, because we have to play on Sunday. Thank you so much. I don’t understand it, but I don’t want to fight for it anymoreGuardiola continued.

The Premier League leader, still in the running for a Championship-Cup-C1 treble, faces Everton, a club threatened with relegation, three days before hosting Real in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final (1- 1 one way).

With a point ahead of their runner-up Arsenal, who nevertheless have one more match, the Citizens cannot afford to rest their frame to favor the match against Real.

Carlo Ancelotti’s players, who no longer have any illusions about the title in the Spanish championship, will face Getafe in La Liga on Saturday and will have an extra day off before Wednesday’s meeting.
