Lyon and PSG disadvantaged by the South American calendar?

Late resumption, long trips … Since the start of the Ligue 1 season, the South American internationals are, for some, with absent subscribers. A particularly glaring observation at PSG. In the league, Lionel Messi played only about twenty minutes against Reims (2-0) during the 4th day. Neymar, he played just over an hour (66 minutes).

This intermittence could be prolonged. La Conmebol, the South American football confederation, has announced the dates for three new rounds of qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup. The last one falls on 14 and 15 October, thn the same time as the 10th day of Ligue 1.

While PSG are supposed to face Angers at 5 p.m. on October 15 (9 p.m.), Brazil must face Uruguay less than 24 hours before, at 2:30 a.m., and Argentina receive Peru at 1:30 a.m. Lionel Messi, Leandro Paredes, Angel Di Maria, Neymar or Marquinhos should be missing once again.

Same problem on the side of Lyon, where Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimarães could be absent for a crucial game against Monaco, October 16 (9 p.m.). On the Monegasque side, the Chilean Guillermo Maripan could bear the brunt of this complicated schedule.

This sequence turns out to be all the more complicated as OL, PSG and Monaco will all play European matches just a few days later. Paris will host Leipzig on October 19 in the Champions League, Lyon will play Sparta Prague in the Europa League, where Monaco are also involved and will face PSV Eindhoven.
