Lukaku opens up about MLS, responds to City rumor

The Belgian striker is happy with Inter, but sees himself joining MLS within a few years, and not in just any team.
Romelu Lukaku has played down the possibility of a Manchester return amid rumors of interest from Premier League champions City but the former United striker has hinted he could head to MLS once his stay at Inter is over.
The Belgium international left Old Trafford for Italy in the summer of 2019 and was a revelation at San Siro, scoring 64 goals in 90 appearances.
This impressive record, along with his life experience in English football, has sparked interest from the Etihad Stadium side, as Pep Guardiola looks to find a replacement for Sergio Aguero, but no move is expected.
In a question-and-answer session on Twitter, former City star Trevor Sinclair asked Lukaku if a return to Manchester, but in blue rather than red, was possible.
The 28-year-old striker, who is currently defending his country’s colors at Euro 2020, responded by saying: « I’m happy at Inter ».
While a return to England doesn’t seem like an option, Lukaku admits he’s open to the idea of going to the United States. The Belgian star is part of Jay Z’s Roc Nation family and could spend some time in MLS before hanging up his boots.
Asked where such a change might take him, Lukaku replied: « One of the teams from NYC or LA. Miami, I haven’t forgotten you ».
Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham is one of the co-owners of Inter Miami. New York has two teams – the Red Bulls and the NYCFC – while the LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC are rivals in California. Lukaku may be leaving a door open, but he is bound by a contract with Inter until 2024.
In the meantime, the Red Devils center-forward hopes to end his magnificent season in the most beautiful way at the Euro, he who already has three goals in Belgium’s three wins in the group stage.
