The Racingfuel Motorsport team has just confirmed the commitment of the German Lucas Luhr to drive in EuroNASCAR Pro.

Racingfuel Motorsport has signed top driver Lucas Luhr, from Mülheim-Kärlich. The 42-year-old endurance star will make his NASCAR Whelen Euro Series debut driving the #58 Chevrolet Camaro and compete in EuroNASCAR PRO.

During his impressive career, Luhr collected big victories in every racing series he entered. With Porsche, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in 2002 and 2003, then a Class 1 DTM season with Audi in 2007. In 2011, Luhr took overall victory in the GT1 world championship at the wheel of a Nissan GT-R. He participated in endurance races in the American Le Mans Series, in the NLS at the Nürburgring, including the famous 24-hour race, which he won several times in different categories, and also started in IndyCar at Sonoma in 2013 – Luhr is therefore 100% in the American racing mode.

« I’m really looking forward to joining the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and supporting the building and development of the Racingfuel Motorsport team », Luhr said ahead of his debut at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. Luhr will share the car with Christoph Lenz, whose team announced earlier that he will race in EuroNASCAR 2. Luhr’s experience in professional racing and Lenz’s debut in TCR as well as GT promise to create a duo momentum that will quickly pick up the pace during the 2022 season.

Racingfuel Motorsport’s second car will be driven by Roger Mettler. He has gained experience by turning many laps in the Porsche Cup and will therefore be looking for solid results in his first year of racing in NASCAR. The Swiss will take the wheel of the Chevrolet Camaro n°94 and will participate in the Rookie and Legend Trophies in EuroNASCAR 2.

The 2022 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season kicks off May 14-15 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. Qualifying and all races will be broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s social media profiles – YouTube, Facebook, Twitch – as well as on Motorsport.tv and many other streaming platforms and regional TV channels around the world.
