LOSC, 4th in attendance in Ligue 1 but 9th in occupancy rate…


Despite results at half mast, LOSC welcomed a multitude of supporters in its bays (656,568) this season but has a low occupancy rate. Significant statistics that highlight the loyalty of Lille but also the problem of a poorly designed stadium.

Not to mention the effervescence of Olympique de Marseille supporters at the Stade Vélodrome, which otherwise monopolizes the first 10 positions, LOSC and its enclosure have managed to register in the top 10 of the best attendances of the season with two real shocks in the league against Paris Saint-Germain (48.437 spectators) and RC Lens (48.168 spectators). Respectively ranked in third and fourth position, these two oppositions are ahead of the reception of the Dogues at the Parc des Princes (47,874 spectators) and several Parisian posters.

A presence in this ranking which is consistent with the average attendance (34.556 spectators) of the Stade Pierre Mauroy, which has seen no less than 656,568 supporters experience moments of joy but also of distress in its spans this season. A balance sheet, which does not take into account the gauged or behind closed doors meetings which have hindered the happiness of the fans, in which the LOSC is a scarecrow. At the foot of the podium behind Olympique de Marseille (54.158), Paris Saint Germain (41.001) and Olympique Lyonnais (36.133), Lille manages to win its first derby of the season against RC Lens (34.556).

A ranking which can nevertheless be misleading when the average attendance is only a quantified reality which is interesting to compare with the occupancy rate of the various Ligue 1 venues. At the foot of the podium in terms of attendance, LOSC pales in comparison to the filling percentage. From this angle, the Stade Pierre Mauroy is in ninth position with an occupancy rate of 70.4%far behind the Meinau (90.2%), Roazhon Park (87.4%) and the Parc des Princes (86.6%).
