Liverpool: Crouch believes Salah must be Premier League's highest paid player

Mohamed Salah is yet to extend his contract with Liverpool as it expires in June 2023. Former England international Peter Crouch believes the Pharaoh should demand to be the highest paid player in the Premier League.

The former Reds striker praised the Egyptian’s qualities, in a statement given to BT Sport, indicating that there is « no one better than him in the Premier League at the moment ». He has asked Liverpool management to revise his salary upwards as he only earns £ 200,000 a week, too far from several other stars in the English league.

Highest-paid Ronaldo with £ 485,000 per week

Returning to Manchester United after stints at Real Madrid and Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo became the highest paid player in the English league with a total of £ 485,000 per week. He earns £ 100,000 more than his runner-up in this ranking of England’s highest paid players, Kevin De Bruyne, while David De Gea is third with £ 375,000. Jadon Sancho, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Romelu Lukaku, Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling are the only other players making over £ 300,000 a week.

A record salary for Mohamed Salah?

Even French duo Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté (£ 290,000 a week) and German Chelsea striker Timo Werner (£ 270,000) earn more than Mohamed Salah. Author of 20 goals in 21 games this season, the Egyptian superstar must see these numbers on the rise in his next contract. According to information from The Mirror, his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, is negotiating a record salary of £ 500,000 a week for his client. It remains to be seen the outcome of the negotiations between the various parties.
