Lisandro Martinez is fast becoming Manchester United’s most popular player and fans are very impressed with his season’s highlights so far.
The 24-year-old joined Manchester United from Ajax for £56.7million in the summer and has already become a vital part of the team’s game.
Martinez is a left-footed centre-back and played under Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam, meaning he knows the style of football at Old Trafford well.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing and Martinez lost his first two Premier League games, even being substituted in the 4-0 loss to Brentford.
He has, however, bounced back in a big way and Martinez is the first choice at the back, alongside Raphaël Varane.
The duo kick captain Harry Maguire off the team and it’s easy to see why.
Martinez is not afraid to enter the game and has already made several blocks. He celebrates each of them as a goal, whether with goalkeeper David de Gea or his fellow defenders.
The Argentinian international does not only have that in his locker. Martinez is armed with a killer pass that allows him to spot United wingers with ease.
Many wondered if his height of six feet would make it difficult for him to adapt to English football. From the evidence we have so far, it passes all tests with flying colors.
United have won their last four league games and many believe Martinez’s inclusion has had a lot to do with it.
One person commented: ‘World class, best defender in the Premier League right now’.
Another said: “I had no idea I would fall in love with a defender at United again like this. »
A third added: « Probably the best deal United will make in ten years. »
While someone tweeted: “Signing of the season without a doubt. »
Following Thursday’s 2-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League, Martinez expressed how delighted he is to be a United player.
When asked about the supporters who sing the name of his country in Moldova, the former Defensa y Justicia responds: “I am really happy.
« I’m a bit surprised by that, but at the same time I feel proud to come here, the best club in the world and for people to say ‘Argentina, Argentina’ for me it’s amazing. Thanks to the fans for their support. »
