In three seasons, Frank Ragnow has established himself as one of the Lions’ base men. So, just days after activating the fifth year of his rookie contract, the Lions finally decided to break the bank.

According to NFL Media, the center signed a 4-year, $ 54 million contract extension, or $ 13.5 million per season. These two years are in addition to his rookie contract, which will secure him $ 2 million in 2021 and $ 12.6 million in 2022.

In total, Ragnow is therefore engaged until the end of the 2026 season, for a little over 68 million dollars. Enough to make him the highest paid center in the whole league. So far, the biggest deal in this post was held by Corey Linsley, with 62.5 million over 5 years, or 12.5 million per campaign. The record for the new Chargers player will therefore only last a few weeks.

At only 24 years old, Ragnow, selected in 20th position in the 2018 Draft, therefore becomes one of the Lions’ captors, especially after the departure of Matthew Stafford.
