Lewis Ludlow was sentenced by referee Craig Evans in England’s victory over Canada

England flanker Lewis Ludlow has been suspended for four matches for striking the knee in Saturday’s 70-14 win over Canada, World Rugby has reported.

Ludlow, who was the team’s captain for a second straight game, punched Canada’s front row boss Jake Ilnicki 30 minutes into the game at Twickenham.

The 26-year-old from Gloucester was sent to sin-bin but the citing officer deemed the offense worthy of a red card, triggering Thursday night’s virtual hearing with an independent disciplinary committee.
