Latvia will host the next World Cup alone
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced on Tuesday that the World Championship will take place only in Riga, Latvia, from May 21 to June 6. Initially, Minsk (Belarus) was to co-organize but the IIHF had decided a few days ago to withdraw the organization of the World Cup, in particular because of the political unrest in the country.
Denmark and Slovakia were ready to co-host the event, but the IIHF therefore decided that it was best to keep all teams in Riga for the duration of the tournament in order to avoid the always complicated travel due to of the Covid-19 pandemic.
