Latifi to Ganassi in 2023?
Landed unceremoniously from Formula 1 by Williams, Nicholas Latifi could bounce back in IndyCar next year in the top team Ganassi.
The Canadian driver finally opened the scoring at the recent Japanese Grand Prix, but it’s a bit late after a disappointing third F1 campaign with Williams.
We know, however, that he has considerable financial means thanks to his father, the billionaire Michael Latifi, so he should extend his career in another discipline without too much difficulty.
It is towards IndyCar that Latifi seems to be heading by joining another former F1 cataloged “paying driver” who has nicely rebuilt a reputation in the States: Marcus Ericsson, winner of Indy 500 this season!
The Chip Ganassi Racing team fielded four Dallara-Hondas in IndyCar for Scott Dixon, Alex Palou, Ericsson and NASCAR veteran Jimmie Johnson in 2022.
At 47, the latter has given up pursuing the adventure next year, with the exception of the Indy 500 and one or the other outing on an oval, thus freeing up a seat for Latifi on the urban and road circuits.
