The name of Marc-Antoine Camirand has just been added to the list of participants in the first winter event of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, as the countdown has begun on the track of the Hippodrome 3R.
Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R) general manager Dominic Fugère confirmed on Sunday that NASCAR Pinty’s Series champion Marc-Antoine Camirand of Saint-Léonard-d’Aston will be driving a vehicle BMW on January 20 and 21.
About thirty drivers will take the start of the races next weekend on the icy track. The vehicles will be fitted with studded tires to bite into the ice.
The next few days will be used to complete the preparations for the winter events. For the moment, between 45 and 50 cm of ice cover the circuit.
We would like to get to 60 cm of ice everywhere if we are able to, even if, in certain places of the track, like on the inclined planes, it is a little more complicated to make icerecognizes Dominic Fugère.
Two drivers take turns at the wheel of the truck which continuously sprays the track until the desired thickness is obtained.
