The final round of the 2022 IndyCar season takes place at Laguna Seca (California); to see the smile displayed by Romain Grosjean (Andretti) after the first free practice, we say that the Frenchman appreciates the track located near Monterey.
Indeed, the former Formula 1 driver, author of a podium for his first visit to Laguna Seca a year ago, got back into the swing of things with a third best time during EL1 on Friday 9 September.

“I’m happy to be back at Laguna – it’s such an amazing circuit, did he declare. We don’t have a lot of tires available so we didn’t race as much as we wanted today (Friday). But it looks like we made some good moves with the car set-up. I’m happy with the balance we found at the end of the session. I can’t wait to run more tomorrow. »
Romain Grosjean was overtaken by the outgoing double winner at Laguna Seca, Colton Herta (Andretti) and Josef Newgarden (Team Penske), who is chasing a third title in the North American discipline this weekend.

“I am always confidentsaid Josef Newgarden. I feel really good in this team. I am never discouraged when arriving on this track. The team has really done a great job this year. We have to be good this weekend. »
Overall leader Will Power (Team Penske) set the seventh fastest time; his teammate Scott McLaughlin (Team Penske) is 11th, just behind the winner of the 2022 Indianapolis 500 Miles, Marcus Ericsson (Chip Ganassi Racing). It’s more complicated for the six-time champion Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), rejected in 17th place.
Also noteworthy was the sixth place of the other Frenchman entered, Simon Pagenaud (Meyer Shank Racing).
