Olympic Nimes

Assaf facing questions. This Tuesday, in the press room of the Costières stadium, the concertation of the new football stadium project, the new district, the substitute stadium and the Sports Hall continued, with two round tables. One had for theme « the relocation of sports clubs » and the other « Nîmes, city of sports ». It is in the latter that Rani Assaf participated. For 90 minutes, the president-shareholder of Nîmes Olympique answered questions. He opened the meeting with a few phrases like “ I’m not doing this to get rich, I’m already very rich ” or  » The first to say that we can continue at Costières, he comes with me to tap dance at the League to convince them that it is possible ”. The strong man of the NO recalled that no public money was used and that he financed 100% of the provisional stadium. If ten people had come to attend this workshop, they were only four to ask questions including Vincent Bouget (Departmental Secretary of the PCF Gard; Departmental Councilor Nîmes 3, Sports delegate; Municipal and Community Councilor of Nîmes) who asked Rani Assaf about the financing of the project. The exchanges were courteous even if the president of NO seemed to get annoyed when the subject of the training center returned to the table. The new stadium will be equipped with a hybrid lawn (type 2) and the part reserved for Gladiators Nîmes 1991 will be equipped with backless seats to allow them to stand during the matches. Finally, Rani Assaf once again ruled out the organization of shows in the sports arena and according to his estimates, the project, once completed, should generate 7 to 8 million euros per year (excluding match night) at benefit of Nîmes Olympique.

Bye Bye La Bastide. The Crocodiles may say goodbye to the Costières stadium, and long before they will abandon their training center at La Bastide. Yesterday, during the consultation on the real estate project led by Rani Assaf, the president of Nîmes Olympique expressed one of his wishes. « I did not want to devote myself to it now but it is no longer possible to train on grounds which are regularly flooded and I wish to have grounds built to settle elsewhere in the next 24 months, probably outside de Nîmes. Gazeau’s greatest stupidity is to have bought the Bastide.  » Now all the Nîmes president has to do is find a new workplace for the Crocodiles.

We take the same … Four days after beating Dunkirk 29-21 in the league (4th day), USAM finds the northern team this evening at 8 p.m. in the round of 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue, still in the Flanders hall of the USDK. Remaining in place between the two meetings, the Green team was therefore able to calmly prepare for this important match because among these objectives for this season Nîmes is aiming for a Final Four in this competition canceled last season because of the late resumption of the championship. The same 16 players are renewed with Gallego, R. Salou and Tesio still absent. The match is broadcast on the Youtube channel LNH TV.

The selected group: Desbonnet, Paul; Poyet, Jakobsen, Joblon, Nyateu, Dupuy, Acquevillo, Minel, Hesham, Tobie, Salou, Rebichon, Sanad, Gibernon, Guigou.

Bonzi surprised by Rosenkranz. Big surprise at the Mouilleron-le-Captif Challenger (Vendée). Gardois Benjamin Bonzi, 60e world leader and seeded number 1 in the tournament, was eliminated from the outset by the German Matz Rosenkranz, modest 487e global. Everything had started well for the Anduzien who seemed to be heading towards a controlled match after about twenty minutes (5/2). But the machine stalled and Rosenkranz let go of the horses to achieve the greatest feat of his young career and win 7/6 6/4. After a summer ended with three titles and fifteen consecutive victories, Benjamin Bonzi has won only one of his four games of the fall.
