For his second game of the season, Kyrie Irving had a complicated evening. Not only because of the loss for the Nets, but also because of an action that could have gone very badly for him. The star leader therefore lambasted the attitude of a Blazers player after the fact!
Faced with a Portland team amputated of its two stars, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, he would no doubt have thought that a quiet evening awaited him this Monday. However, Kyrie Irving had to struggle for 40 minutes to overcome stubborn Blazers, without success (108-114). In addition to this humiliating defeat, he could also have left the Moda Center with a big ankle injury, following a contentious action in the money-time!
Kyrie Irving shocked by the gesture of a Blazer
Victim of a big twist of the ankle on this sequence, Kyrie needed a few seconds to get up, and a time out to regain his feelings. This fear did not ultimately prevent him from finishing the meeting, but had the merit of provoking his anger. He transcribed the latter at a press conference, reproaching Nassir Little for this “useless” interception attempt!
« I tried to get out of the way but I just felt like it was unnecessary for him to dive that far away from the ball…. I coulda broke my ankle or done something worse, there’s just no place in our game for it. »

I just don’t feel it was necessary for him to dive that far off the ball. It was an unnecessary action. I told the referees that we had to protect the players. I understand that Nassir wants to try to get the ball back, but I could have broken my ankle or worse. It has no place in our sport. I understand Nassir, it’s not against him, but it could have been avoided.
Happy to be able to put on the Nets outfit again, Uncle Drew could have joined the infirmary on his second outing this season. What explains his annoyance, he who had already had to abandon his teammates because of a similar injury during the last series of playoffs against the Bucks. More fear than harm this time, since he himself said he would be present to face the Bulls on Wednesday.
Dangerously broke by Nassir Little, Kyrie Irving did not hide his exasperation at this gesture which he considers superfluous. Fortunately, the worst was obviously avoided on this occasion, which should also reassure the young player from Portland!
