Joe Flacco starts for the Jets against Miami
The New York franchise has indicated that Zach Wilson was not yet 100%, and the rookie will therefore still be absent during Week 11. In difficulty last week, with in particular 4 interceptions launched, Mike White will be replaced by Joe Flacco facing the Dolphins.
To explain his choice, Robert Saleh highlighted the “challenge” offered by Miami this weekend and the “experience” of Joe Flacco for this kind of match.
Ravens don’t keep Le’Veon Bell
The adventure was short for Bell in Baltimore, since the franchise announced in the week that it was releasing the running-back.
Arrived during the season with the Ravens, it must be said that Bell has not really shown himself to his advantage. Present in 5 games, he won only 83 yards in 31 races (2.7 YPA), with 2 touchdowns marked. Devonta Freeman and Latavius Murray, also signed after backfield injuries, were better.
But John Harbaugh then showed himself open to a Le’Veon Bell return later in the season. The manager explained that he had to part ways with a player to free up a place for a return from injury. To be continued.
Ryan Fitzpatrick will not be returning this season
Hit in the hip since September, Ryan Fitzpatrick needs more time to heal. The QB should not replay the season.
According to several sources close to the player and the franchise, Fitzpatrick is still suffering from his hip, which still tends to swell. He therefore prefers to concentrate on treatment and recovery rather than returning to the field too early. Surely a wise choice for a 38-year-old player.
As a result, Taylor Heinicke is expected to remain Washington’s No. 1 QB until the end of the season. Kyle Allen is currently the backup.
Eagles extend Dallas Goedert
True tight-end number 1 of the Eagles since the departure of Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert seems to satisfy his coaches and leaders. TE signed a 4-year contract extension this week to the tune of $ 59 million.
At 26, Goedert is an important player in the Philadelphia offense. He has 429 yards and 2 touchdowns in 9 games this season. Drafted by the Eagles at 2th tour in 2018, so he will continue his adventure in Pennsylvania.
Another player who received a contract extension this week, WR Tim Patrick signed for 3 years and $ 30 million with the Broncos. Always there when he has to replace the holders, he has 523 yards and 4 touchdowns in 10 games this season.
NFL Dominates Highest Paid Coaches Rankings
The Sportico site this week published the top 25 highest paid coaches in American sports. And as much to say that the NFL dominates the debates. 17 of the top 25 places are occupied by NFL coaches, including the top 4. The other 8 are for NBA coaches, with Gregg Popovich in the lead (5th).
The highest paid coach in the United States is Bill Belichick (New England Patriots), who earns an average annual salary of $ 18 million. He is ahead of Pete Carroll (Seattle Seahawks) and Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints) ($ 14M). The highest paid coach without winning a title is Kyle Shanahan, who earns $ 9.5 million annually in San Francisco. He is also the only coach in the top 10 with a negative record.
Two college coaches are in the top 10, with Nick Saban at the top of the list. The coach of the Crimson Tide, who has won 7 national titles, is 7th of this ranking, with $ 10.7 million annually. Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M) is 8th with $ 9.5 million per season on average.

Jimmy Lake fired by Washington
It’s already over for Jimmy Lake with the Huskies. Yet in his second season only, the manager was removed from his post this week. Defensive coordinator Bob Gregory will act for the end of the season.
For his last game as a coach, Lake was not even on the sidelines, as he was suspended after having an altercation with a player. Other Huskies players have complained about his behavior, especially at halftime in some games. It is not known whether these concerns played into the university’s decision to fire him. It must be said that the results on the ground are not good either, with a negative balance (4-6) this year and the worst attack of the Pac-12 conference.
At 44, Jimmy Lake had a complicated first experience as a main coach. Yet he was seen as a rising star. Noticed in the staff of Boise State from 2012, he was recruited by Washington in 2016 to occupy the position of defensive coordinator. Promoted to head coach last year, he leaves after only 14 games and a record of 7 wins and 7 losses.
He came out of his silence in the week, on his Twitter account, writing in particular that he had been « Proud to be a Husky ».
