Keylor Navas (PSG) back before the clash against Lille
Mauricio Pochettino has almost his full squad. Angel Di Maria, who dominated Colombia 1-0 with Argentina, and Marquinhos, author of a decisive pass with Brazil winner of Paraguay (4-0), were back at the PSG training center on Thursday, with both nations already guaranteed a presence in Qatar for the World Cup at the end of the year.
Leandro Paredes returned on Sunday due to his suspension for the game against Colombia. Achraf Hakimi, eliminated Sunday with Morocco by Egypt (2-1 aet) in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations, also reappeared at Camp des Loges.
Among this contingent, only Keylor Navas was still missing, in addition to Idrissa Gueye and Abdou Diallo, who will play the CAN final on Sunday with Senegal. The Costa Rican is expected this Friday in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. His selection, thanks to its 1-0 success in Jamaica, has relaunched itself in the race for qualification.
Positive development for Neymar
Costa Rica is fifth in the Concacaf zone, one point behind play-off Panama, but its last two home matches promise to be tough against Canada and the United States, the first two in the group.
The good news for the Parisian staff is that these internationals have returned without physical glitches. The next two days will tell if they are fit to start Sunday’s clash at Stade Pierre-Mauroy against Lille, the defending champion. Thursday, after physical work and a warm-up, the players made mini-oppositions.
Neymar, like the day before, took part in part of the session with his partners before going to work individually with a physical trainer. The recovery of the Brazilian is a good omen in the perspective of the reception of Real Madrid, on February 15, in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League, even if the « Ney » will certainly lack rhythm.
Ramos and Wijnaldum still injured
At the moment, the only two injured are Sergio Ramos (calf) and Georginio Wijnaldum (left ankle). The case of the Spanish defender must be reassessed in the coming hours, as PSG announced on Monday via a press release. The Dutchman must resume with the group this weekend. If this timing is respected, the former Liverpool midfielder should be able to apply for Rennes on February 11 or Real Madrid.
