Kenya – Premier League (J8): Kakamega Homeboyz leader after draw against Mathare United

The Kenyan Premier League was in its eighth day on Wednesday, December 8. As per today’s schedule, Kakamega Homeboyz and Mathare United faced each other in a very close match, with Homeboyz being the favorites. No winner for this meeting, the two teams separated with a draw of 2-2.

The match between Kakamega Homeboyz and Mathare United was a match closely watched by the Kenyan sporting public. Homeboyz who, before Wednesday’s match, was ranked second in the standings, nevertheless held their ground by conceding a draw. At Kakamega, Mathare United took the lead after Homeboyz goalkeeper Brian Eshihanda scored in the 21st minute following an action inside the penalty area.

The Slum Boys doubled the lead in the 64th minute thanks to forward Eugene Wethuli. However, Yema Mwana and Sunday Mutuku gave Homeboyz a comeback in the 84th and 96th minutes. The draw saw Homeboyz take the lead with 17 points after seven games. However, Mathare United remains 13th with 7 points close to the red zone.
