Kalidou Koulibaly transfer: Chelsea agree $40m deal for Napoli centre-back.

chelsea Chelsea are ready to sign centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli after the clubs agreed a $40million deal, with add-ons, according to CBS Sports football pundit Fabrizio Romano. The Senegalese player has already agreed personal terms with the English club.

After Matthjis de Ligt transfer talks stalled in recent days, Chelsea pushed to sign Koulibaly and reached the final deal on Tuesday. Eight years after his arrival in Italy, the player will leave a city where he has become an icon. Indeed, in May 2019, Koulibaly was made an honorary citizen of Napoli, and he was supposed to become the club’s captain this year after Lorenzo Insigne joined Toronto FC. Koulibaly leaves Napoli after winning a Coppa Italia in 2020 and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2014, playing 317 games and scoring 14 goals. He helps the team replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who left on free transfers to Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.

The documents are now ready to be signed between all parties. Napoli agreed to Chelsea’s terms after talks escalated in recent hours, and Koulibaly is now ready to sign a long-term contract after medical tests are completed. The centre-back’s salary will be around €10m net per season and the contract is expected to run until summer 2027.
