Joris Gnagnon loses his duel against Sevilla FC
Defender Joris Gnagnon was fired by Sevilla FC in 2021, blaming him for poor form. The Frenchman had launched an unfair dismissal procedure with FIFA, a lawsuit he has just lost.
Bad news for Joris Gnagnon, Sevilla FC wins. The Spanish club and the player were in legal proceedings following “ breach of contract for gross negligence which took place in September 2021. The Frenchman was notably accused of having passed the 100 kg mark. Joris Gnagnon then asked FIFA to « wrongful dismissal but just lost the case.
« FIFA’s litigation chamber has dismissed the complaint filed by former Sevilla FC player Joris Gnagnon against the club for unfair dismissal. The footballer claimed more than 4,600,000 euros in compensation for his dismissal due to his lack of physical form. According to this decision, Sevilla FC will not have to pay any compensation to the player, who can always appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) Can we read in the Sevilla FC press release.
The Andalusian club had however recruited the young French defender for 15 million euros from Rennes in 2018, betting a lot on his potential.
