Jorginho and Barça, things are heating up

FC Barcelona invested heavily this summer to reorganize its workforce, but the Blaugrana are still looking to continue their revolution next summer.

Reports from England have linked Barca with a move for Chelsea’s Italian midfielder Jorginho. The Champions League winner is out of contract next summer and Sport have picked up a report from The Sun that the Catalans are interested in returning to Chelsea for shopping next summer.

Barca still want to buy

Mateu Alemany has already shown his appetite for free transfers this summer, obtaining Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie this summer. The fact that Sergio Busquets isn’t getting any younger is also a topic of debate at Camp Nou. Frenkie de Jong has yet to show that he is capable of taking over this role from Busquets, it’s possible that Alemany sees Jorginho as an option to do so. Busquets’ name has also been mooted for a move to MLS next summer.

A pinch of salt should be added to any analysis. Jorginho’s contract ending next summer, this may be when his agent or Chelsea will seek to start negotiations with him. It would be advantageous for his agent during the negotiations if Barcelona were interested.
