Jeremy Clements in seventh heaven!

For the second time in his career, Jeremy Clements wins the NASCAR XFINITY Series and qualifies for the playoffs!

At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday August 27, 2022, at the start of the third and ultimately last Overtime of the race, Jeremy Clements was one of five riders in the field with bodywork intact. The other four being Timmy Hill, Ryan Vargas, Jesse Iwuji and Joey Gase. It was not a guarantee of victory, but it made him one of the favorites, it was still necessary to avoid the carnage.

Thanks to help from Sage Karam on the restart, Jeremy Clements manages to get the better of Austin Hill, victim of electrical problems. AJ Allmendinger, pushed by Brandon Brown, manages to take the lead on the back straight, but Jeremy Clements takes control a few seconds later, just before the eleventh and final neutralization of the race when Riley Herbst makes a mistake under the flag white signaling entry into the last lap.

I am speechless. It’s incredible. We survived all those big crashes. It was Days of Thunder today.

Jeremy Clements therefore signs his second career victory after that which occurred at Road America in 2017, it was already August 27. He leads on the line Timmy Hill, AJ Allmendinger, Brandon Bown and Sage Karam for the top 5. Ryan Vargas finished sixth ahead of Ty Gibbs, Quebecer Alex Labbé, JJ Yeley and rookie Kyle Sieg, brother of Ryan.

Storms delayed the start of the race by more than three hours, but shortly before 11:00 p.m. local time, the green flag was given. With the absence of practice and the cancellation of qualifying, already because of the weather, it is into the unknown that the pilots set off. At the end of the fourteenth lap, the young Sammy Smith lost control of his car at the exit of turn 4 and hit the inside wall violently just before entering the pits.

The tension mounts in this race as the checkered flag draws closer. Sheldon Creed, vying for a place in the playoffs on points is one of the victims of the accident which occurs on lap 82 when Brandon Brown sends John Hunter Nemechek across. The driver of Richard Childress Racing, as well as Joe Graf Jr. will dismount on this accident.

A few laps after the restart, it was JR Motorosports who lost big, when on a push from Justin Allgaier, AJ Allmendinger parried at fault. If they are both doing quite well, this is not the case for Josh Berry and Sam Mayer, collateral victims of this accident.

This accident will not be the last, since three laps from the checkered flag around ten drivers will be involved in a chain reaction which will lead to an end of the race under the regime of theOvertime. Among the pilots involved, Landon Cassill or AJ Allmendinger.

Next week, NASCAR’s second division will head to Darlington Raceway.
