James Hinchcliffe returns to service in Mazda MX-5

Here is a name that we had not heard for a long time: James Hinchcliffe. Winner six times in IndyCar in his 10-year career, the Canadian had not been seen in competition, at least officially, since the end of the 2021 season during which he drove for Andretti for a 20e place in the championship.

Since then, nothing more except appearances on American television as a consultant for IndyCar such as the Indy 500 or even on F1TV for a few Grands Prix, Mexico or Bahrain more recently. But that changed somewhat with the move of the Mazda MX-5 Cup to Watkins Glen.

This stopover in the championship reserved for the « Miata » by the state of New York allowed James Hinchcliffe to taste racing and the feeling of being a pilot. And the least we can say is that he did pretty well for his premiere. Indeed, he finished in the Top 10 of Race 1 with the 6e place in the key. New path found?
