Jacques Villeneuve tempted by the Daytona 500?

Jacques Villeneuve back in NASCAR? The information seems far-fetched but it is very true, or at least plausible. Used to the Whelen Euro Series (European NASCAR Championship) for two years, the Canadian was present this week at Daytona for the Next-Gen tests. What to consider a participation in the biggest race of NASCAR with Team Hezeberg (team with which he rode this week)?

» That would be great, answers Jacques Villeneuve at the time of evoking the possibility. My last presence in Nascar goes back a few years already, I think it was in Sonoma (41st in the race in 2013) so yes that was several years ago. It would be very special because it is an exceptional race. It’s hard to participate because you have to qualify with a time or via duels (qualifying races). So that makes things more stressful. Just being a part of it would be something special. «

Jacques Villeneuve would not venture into unknown territory since after his career in F1, he turned to NASCAR. In 2007, he took part in two Cup Series races with Bill Davis Racing (21st in Talladega and 41st in Phoenix). The following year he failed to qualify for the Daytona 500 and then did not race again before Indianapolis with Braun Racing in 2010. He returned in 2013 for a freelance at Sonoma with Phoenix Racing.
