Jacob Stallings traded from Pirates to Marlins

This noon, my colleague William Thériault was talking about the fact that the Yankees and Marlins could potentially go and get receiver Jacob Stallings from the Pirates.

Ultimately, it was the Marlins who got it. Pitcher Zach Thompson and hopes take the opposite route.

The Marlins got their hands on the receiver and signed Avisail Garcia to play in the outfield. We were talking about two shortcomings.

It’s important to mention that the Yankees were in the race for Stallings. Dropping him means Gary Sanchez should stay in town and the catcher won’t be traded to the Marlins, who are just looking to trade a pitcher.

Because yes, his name is circulating en masse in Miami these days, as my colleague William Thériault wrote earlier today.

As for the Blue Jays, that limits their chances of exchanging Alejandro Kirk in Miami for reinforcement on the mound.
