After a launch in motor racing and the investment of Canadian actor Ryan Reynold, Alpine will land in America in 2027.

It seems that the Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds or in investment mode in sport. After strong rumors of the purchase of the Ottawa Senators hockey team, we now learn that its dollars are turning to the stable of F1 Alpine, formerly Renault. Although the Alpine name is intimately linked to Renault, this division seeks not only to assert its sportiness, but also its independence from the parent company.

As it wants to express itself in the biggest automotive events, the company multiplies the investors to give itself the means of its ambitions. In addition to Renault’s contribution, third parties are added. In addition to Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, there is Maximum Effort Investments. The latter is worthy of interest since the Canadian actor originally from Vancouver, Ryan Reynolds, is one of the shareholders. There is, of course, F1 where we currently find the drivers Pierre Gasly (10) and Esteban Ocon (31) behind the wheel of the racing cars, but also endurance competition.

We are not yet talking about the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but certainly about the World Endurance Championship series which takes place during the 24 Hours of Daytona. The A424 _ß concept car was recently unveiled. As it is in the LMDh, we are theoretically talking about a hybrid engine developing some 670 horsepower from its turbocharged 3.4-liter V6. Thanks to the investments, it is highly possible that we will see Alpine’s involvement expand into other sectors of motor racing.

The track, but also the road

Rumors surrounding the return of a French car brand have been dragging on for decades. In the case of Alpine, beyond the attractiveness of the possible market volume, there is a very important question of marketing. Alpine is in F1, but does not produce vehicles sold in the United States or Canada. However, we count on the presence of 5 Grand Prix in North America, if we include, of course, that of Montreal. If road cars are produced, the loyalty of enthusiasts is even greater, because it is possible to identify concretely with a brand.

For now, Alpine wants to have a portfolio of seven different vehicles in its range by the end of 2030. The first models are scheduled for sale in 2027. The brand’s flagship model is undoubtedly the reincarnation of the legendary A110 relaunched in 2018 in Europe. Sports car of the caliber of the Porsche Cayman, it is the definition of French sportiness. This generation is coming to an end, and the car will be replaced by a new A110, this time electric for 2026. The other model that will have fans in Quebec is the A290, this Alpine version of the Renault 5. For the moment, the latter is at the concept stage, but its production is already confirmed. In addition to sports cars, a collection of SUVs is expected, including a compact model that would compete with a product like the Maserati Grecale Folgore with its electric motor. Towards the end of the decade, two more larger SUVs would be added to the lineup.

RPM’s review

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard a French automaker say it wants to come back to North America. Will this time be the right one? With the investments of the various financial groups, including that of Reynolds, one can afford to believe that he hopes to see “his” vehicles being sold at home. Obviously, we are talking about electrification and luxury products that will not be for all budgets. However, if the project materializes, we risk seeing a player who displays a very strong personality coming to brighten up the Canadian and American car fleet.

  • 7 vehicles are planned by 2023.
  • Actor Ryan Reynolds is a significant investor.
