IndyCar: Scott Dixon will start in the lead position at the Indianapolis 500 Miles


INDIANAPOLIS, United States – New Zealander Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi), leader in the IndyCar championship, already the fastest in yesterday’s practice, was again in the « Fast 9 » on Sunday and will start in the lead position in a week on the Indianapolis 500 Mile Oval.

This is the 4th time in his career that the veteran driver (40 years old) will start at the head of this legendary race which he already won in 2008.

He will be at the forefront of a front row also made up of American Colton Herta (Andretti) and Dutchman Rinus VeeKay (Ed Carpenter Racing).

These three drivers have already won one Grand Prix out of the five contested this season.

In 4th position is Ed Carpenter, the other driver of the team which he owns, and who achieves a good performance on Chevrolet engines, when the seven competitors of the « Fast 9 » drive in Honda.

Tony Kanaan (Chip Gagnassi) will start from 5th place, followed by Spaniard Alex Palou (Chip Gagnassi).

Ryan Hunter-Reay (7th, Andretti), Helio Castroneves (8th, Meyer Shank) and Marcus Ericsson (9th, Chip Ganassi) will start from the third row.

The day before, Takuma Sato (Rahal Letterman Lanigan), defending champion, set the 15th time.
