Marcus Ericsson won the Indianapolis 500 Miles. The Swede overtook the Mexican Pato O’Ward after a race marked by a red flag with 4 laps to go, followed by a new start.
The podium was completed by the Brazilian Tony Kanaan. This is the second victory for a Swedish driver in the famous American race after that of Kenny Bräck in 1999.
Ericsson (31) competed in 97 Formula 1 Grands Prix from 2014 to 2018, for Caterham (2014) then Sauber. His best result was an 8th place. He has been driving in IndyCar since 2019 and had two victories before his Sunday triumph. The Swede drives for the Ganassi team.
