Inception Racing and Optimum Motorsport on multiple fronts in 2023

If we take into account the number of races during the year 2022, it’s a safe bet that Inception Racing will be in the lead pack. The British team managed by Optimum Motorsport has been in all the campaigns in the four corners of the world. Between the 24 Hours of Dubai, the Asian Le Mans Series, the GT World Challenge Europe, the WEC and the IMSA, Inception Racing has been busy since last January and 2023 promises to be another busy season.

The full program in IMSA in the GTD category will be favored by Brendan Iribe, the driver behind Inception Racing. The American entrepreneur will start his 2023 campaign with the 24 Hours of Daytona in the McLaren 720S GT3 with Frederik Schandorff, Ollie Millroy and Marvin Kirchhöfer.

Appearances at other races on the American continent are not to be excluded, without however taking part in a full programme.

Optimum Motorsport will not neglect Europe with two McLaren 720S GT3s expected in GT World Challenge Europe (Endurance) and two in International GT Open. Two McLaren Artura GT4s are confirmed in British GT and two in McLaren Trophy, the new championship that will accompany the GT World Challenge Europe.

Unlike this year, the WEC under the name Inception Racing is not planned but it is not excluded to see Brendan Iribe at the start of the 24 hours of Le Mans in June 2023. After Kessel Racing, Inception Racing has joined forces with Team Project 1 this year in GTE-Am.

“We have had a lot of work this year”Bas Leinders, sporting director of the British team, told Endurance-Info. “We are lucky to have a very good, stable team. The staff present in 2021 were still there this year and will be there next year. This is also what makes the strength of Optimum Motorsport. »

With the arrival of the GT3s at Le Mans in 2024, Inception Racing could well see themselves returning to Le Mans, even if Bas Leinders knows that the task will not be easy: “Coming back to Le Mans in 2024 won’t be easy because a lot of teams will want to be at the start and we don’t know how many places will be reserved for GTs. »
