In 2023 the IMSA will make its big comeback at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway after an absence of almost ten years. The event is scheduled for September 17, 2023, on the same circuit as that used this weekend.
Roger Penske is adding a premier championship at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2023, the IMSA Championship, which will return after a nine-year absence. The circuit that will be used is that of 2.439 miles with 14 turns, in other words the one used in INDYCAR and NASCAR.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is hallowed ground in the world of motorsports and we are honored to bring the IMSA and the WeatherTech Championship back there. There has been mutual interest and many conversations between IMSA and Indianapolis Motor Speedway executives for some time to bring our series back to the Speedway.

It will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2023, as IMSA enters a new era in the prototype category. The weekend will also include the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge on September 16, 2023.

The IMSA WeatherTech Championship race will be run over a 2 hour and 40 minute format. In 2024 and 2025, the IMSA Championship will return to Indianapolis with longer endurance races.
