Summer is decidedly hectic in Boston. After losing his new recruit Danilo Gallinari to injury, the defending finalist will have to do without his coach Ime Udoka. The 45-year-old coach, for having had an affair with a member of the technical staff, should be suspended by his management for the whole of the next season. To replace him, the franchise is expected to appoint assistant coach Joe Mazzulla as interim coach. Arrived a year ago to take over from Brad Stevens, Udoka had managed in the previous year to lead Boston to the NBA Finals. The Celtics and Jayson Tatum lost there to the Warriors (4-2).
Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is likely facing a suspension for the entire 2022-2023 season for his role in a consensual relationship with a female staff member, sources tell ESPN. A formal announcement is expected as soon as today.
