The former Lugano striker is back in Switzerland: he signed a two-year contract in favor of the Upper Valais club in the Swiss League.
Eliminated in the quarter-finals of the play-offs of the 2020-2021 championship by Ajoie (4-0), HC Visp made a big blow on the transfer market: the Haut-Valaisan club recruited the Swede Linus Klasen for two years (35 years).
The left winger, who skated with Lugano from 2014 to 2020, played the last exercise with Lulea, in the Swedish first division. In 50 regular season games, he amassed 42 points, including 14 goals. He added six assists in seven play-off games.
The small striker (1.74 m) had plaugh goes to four NHL games with the Nashville Predators in 2014-15 and play the World Championships in 2014 and 2016.
Three Swedes under contract
In Visp, the name of the second foreigner is not yet known. For the record, after a failed 2020-2021 campaign (6th place at the end of the regular season), the Lonza Arena-based team decided not to renew the contracts of North American strikers Troy Josephs and Mark Van Guilder.
With Klasen, the HC Visp squad now includes three players with Swedish passports. Defenders Philip Ahlström and Fabian Eggenberger are however thn possession a Swiss gaming license.

In addition to a second imported striker, the Viégeois sporting director Bruno Aegerter still has to choose the name of the coach.
In office during the last part of the past season, Quebecer Yves Sarault is still on the list of top candidates. But other avenues, in northern Europe as well as in North America, are being explored.
