Eight Swiss were in uniform on the NHL rinks overnight from Saturday to Sunday. None shaken the net, but five of them scored at least one point: Nico Hischier, Jonas Siegenthaler, Nino Niederreiter, Roman Josi and Philipp Kurashev.

It was during the Devils’ 3-5 success in Tampa that the white cross passport players stood out the most. Led 3-1 after two thirds, New Jersey turned things around completely in the final period. Siegenthaler was involved in Dawson Mercer’s score reduction and then Jimmy Vesey’s equalizer. Hischier was credited with an assist on Yegor Sharangovich’s winning goal. The Zurich defender and the Valais striker now have 4 and 10 points respectively this season.

Niederreiter, author of his 4th point of the exercise, for his part delivered an assist to Martin Necas, allowing the Hurricanes to win 4-5 against the Kings in Los Angeles. This success allows Carolina to keep the head of the Metropolitan Division ahead of Washington. The Capitals easily dominated Appenzell Sharks Timo Meier (0-4).

The other Swiss have all been defeated: despite an assist from Josi on the Predators’ first goal in the third period, Nashville was defeated 6-3 by the Montreal Canadiens who were five lengths ahead after 30 minutes of play. The Bernese defender thus remains the best Swiss counter with 17 points. For his 5th assist of the season, Kurashev couldn’t avoid the Blackhaws’ loss to Edmonton. Connor McDavid’s teammates were already leading 4-0 after 19 minutes of play, eventually winning 5-2 and consolidating their place as leaders in the Pacific Division.

St. Welsh winger Kevin Fiala, despite his 4 shots, was ineffective in the Wild’s 5-4 loss to the Florida Panthers in the clash between the top of the Atlantic and Central Divisions. As the Zurich striker Pius Suter, remained silent on the occasion of the defeat of the Detroit Red Wings on the ice of the Arizona Coyotes (2-1 ap). Without Zurich’s Dean Kukan or Romand Grégory Hofmann, Colombus suffered the law of the Vegas Golden Knights (3-2).
