Ice hockey – NHL (play-offs): Las Vegas is almost there, Toronto gets back together

First of the regular season in the North Division (the one reserved for Canadian teams), Toronto fell from the top by losing at home against Montreal, fourth, in the first game of the play-offs. But the Maple Leafs put things right, winning 5-1 in Game 2. If Jesperi Kotkaniemi had opened the scoring in the 8th minute for Montreal, Toronto responded by scoring five goals in a row, by Jason Spezza (13th), Auston Matthews (26th), Rasmus Sandin (34th), William Nylander (49th) and Alexander Kerfoot (59th). The Montreal Canadiens were notably weighed down by their indiscipline, with seven two-minute suspensions during the second and third periods. But it is now they who will receive, with Match 3 scheduled for Monday and Match 4 on Tuesday.

Las Vegas hits the net

On the West Division side, Las Vegas is on target, with a third victory in four games against Minnesota. The Golden Knights won 4-0 on the ice of the Wild thanks to Nicolas Roy (11th and 59th), Alex Tuch (30th) and Mark Stone (34th), while Marc-André Fleury made 35 saves. Nevada players, who finished second in the regular season, will have the opportunity to wrap up the series on Monday at home. They would then have a good chance of facing Colorado, which currently leads 3-0 against St. Louis, the West Division being the one that knows the least suspense in this first round of the play-offs.
