The Islanders hit hard for their first game against the Flyers with a clear victory (0-4). The Stars, quickly led by two goals, were able to react to sign a second clear success against the Avalanche (2-5).

Seed number 1 of the Eastern Conference), the Philadelphia Flyers were missing subscribers in their first game against the New York Islanders. It only took six minutes for Andy Greene to open the scoring for the « Big Apple » franchise. The Pennsylvania players then closed the double lock during the second period but failed to deceive Semyon Varlamov. In the final third, the Islanders needed a little less than ten minutes to seal the fate of the game. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Anders Lee and Devon Toews scored the last three goals of the New York franchise which strikes a big start in the series with this heavy defeat (0-4).

The Avalanche believed in it … before sinking

Clearly dominated in match 1 of the series, Colorado Avalanche players were keen to redeem themselves. Thanks to Nathan McKinnon at the start of the first period and Mikko Rantanen in the middle of the second, both benefiting from a power play, the latter were on track to get there. But that was without counting on the awakening of the Dallas Stars. 70 seconds after the second goal for Colorado, Joe Pavelski sounded the revolt. In less than ten minutes, the Texans scored four goals, with Radek Faksa, Alexander Radulov and Esa Lindell following their teammate’s lead. Jamie Oleksiak then went from his goal ten seconds to the end to complete the work of the Stars, who win widely (2-5) and confirm their ascendancy.
