“First of all, the last time I played in America I was in the G-League bubble. And I did not like this experience. Not because of the team I was playing with or the coaching staff, but I was playing with a sore ankle. It was very frustrating. I decided to have an operation before the summer and spent the summer doing my rehabilitation. Then I said to myself that I had to come back to play the summer league and try to find a team. But I wanted to be 100% and I wasn’t going to play the summer league if I wasn’t 100%. Then around that time Tony Parker called me and asked me what I wanted to do the following season. He was interested and it helped me bounce back from my injury and the operation. »Elie Okobo
He chose to return to France to have a more important role.
“It was a bit for comfort because I’m French, my family lives an hour from Lyon. Tony Parker knows me, the coach (TJ Parker) knows me very well, and I chose this comfort. And I knew what my role was going to be on the team. I have high expectations for myself, I try to be a leader, a great player. And I felt it was the best decision for me. It was more a question of being back in the field, of being able to express myself, of having fun. I was not enjoying myself because of the injury I had. And I had the feeling that by coming back to France, playing the EuroLeague, I will have more time to bounce back. I think I started playing in mid-September. So it’s been a long time since I last played. I didn’t play in the NBA bubble because we were at 8-0 and I was there later, and there was no need to change the spin. »Elie Okobo
