“I often check Woj and Shams to see if they will trade me”
The pre-season may have started for many league franchises, but the transfer market is still open. As such, a former champion would carefully monitor his situation on the networks, waiting for a possible trade!
Admittedly, the various front offices are rarely very active at this time of year, except to sign unknown free agents and offer them a chance to shine. Despite this dead calm, a major trade is never far away in the NBA, including for stars who have been in their team for a few years already. It is therefore better to keep informed for the latter, so as not to be surprised.
Sent away from Sacramento, Harrison Barnes remains vigilant
Like many rivals, the Kings will play their first preseason game on Monday against the Lakers. A Californian derby without real stakes, and which Harrison Barnes risks experiencing in a particular way. Interviewed by Jason Anderson of Sacramento Bee on the sidelines of this meeting, the 30-year-old winger spoke about his uncertain future within the franchise, with the utmost honesty:
For now, Barnes believes he is where he needs to be, but he joked about following the latest trade news offered by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, just in case. “You know how the NBA works. I often check Woj and Shams to see if I will get traded. So far they’re leaving me here, so as far as I’m concerned, this is where I need to be, and I’m going to give it my all. »
It’s true that Barnes has a history of finding himself in transfer rumors in recent years. A few weeks ago, he was cited among the main candidates for a trade with John Collins and the Hawks. In the end, it turns out that he is still in Sacramento, and that he will once again play the role of veteran this season. All of this, while still managing to deal with the noises that surround it:
It’s part of the business. I don’t really pay attention to it. The most important thing right now is getting ready for Opening Night. That’s what I focus on. We, the players, and the coaching staff seek to build a relationship of trust, so that once adversity sets in, we can build on the foundations of this good relationship.
Following the arrival of Mike Brown on the bench, the Kings can indeed hope to finally raise the bar, and truly fight for a place in the playoffs. Without this, their terrible draw record streak still ongoing will endure, and will continue to be the object of great ridicule. Barnes will therefore be called upon to perform in the coming months…unless his leaders send him elsewhere by then!
A recurring protagonist of trade rumors, Harrison Barnes is keeping an eye out for breaking news from Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski, in case they talk about him. The Kings, however, seem to trust him to get the franchise back on track!
