Hurricanes and Bear agree to one-year contract
Ethan Bear agreed to a one-year, $2.2 million contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.
The 25-year-old defenseman was a restricted free agent and avoided his salary arbitration hearing scheduled for August 8.
Bear had 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 58 games for the Hurricanes last season, his first in Carolina.
Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round (124th overall) in 2015, Bear has 47 points (13 goals, 34 assists) in 190 regular season games with the Hurricanes and Oilers. He played in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games but didn’t score a single point.
