How will OM play with their new recruits? –

The probable arrival of Terem Moffi at OM will punctuate a high-flying winter transfer window from the Olympian club, which has already recruited Ruslan Malinovskyi. How will Tudor’s OM play with these two new offensive weapons?

Despite the loss of attacking elements in recent weeks, with the injury of Harit and the departure of Gerson for Flamengo, OM have been running at full speed since the beginning of November with eight consecutive victories in all competitions. Payet has returned to the rotation somewhat, Under has regained a sparkling level of play, Guendouzi has been sharp since his return from the World Cup and Alexis Sanchez is starting to score again. Only Bamba Dieng has been disappointing since the restart. The arrival of Ukrainian attacking midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi (29) will undoubtedly be an additional strike force for the Olympians and demonstrates Marseille’s great ambitions for the second half of the season. The beginnings of the Ukrainian playmaker are also very promising. The recruitment of Terem Moffi combined with the departure of Bamba Dieng could reshuffle the cards in the Marseille attacking sector.

A system that depends on Sanchez and Moffi

While Tudor is likely to continue playing 3-4-2-1, the men could change regularly in the Croatian technician’s starting XI. Thus, the most likely solution would be to see Sanchez take a step back and play alongside Malinovskyi just behind Terem Moffi. This system could even turn into 3-4-1-2 with the Ukrainian in real number 10 if we consider that Sanchez is placed alongside Moffi, the Chilean striker revolving around the former FC Lorient striker. On the other hand, Tudor’s preferential system (3-4-2-1) will not change in the absence of Moffi. If he is placed at the forefront as since the start of the season, Alexis Sanchez will be supported by an attacking pair. They are four to compete for two places: Under, Guendouzi, Payet and Malinovskyi. It is hard to imagine Malinovskyi not being a starter after being recruited this winter (loan with option to buy 18 million euros). The second attacking midfield position will therefore surely be between Under and Guendouzi, with Payet only seeming to be an alternative for Igor Tudor.

The Croatian technician will in any case be spoiled for choice in his offensive sector, which bodes well before starting important deadlines in the league and the Coupe de France.
