Heat, Grizzlies and Knicks thoroughly on the same pretty name before the recovery?
The regular season will start in a few days, but some franchises continue to scrutinize the transfer market. A star in the West could thus pack his bags in a short time and according to an anonymous leader, Memphis, New York or Miami could jump at the chance.
2021-22 has been a funny season for Josh Richardson. He thus started it at the Celtics in a rather tense climate, since the franchise was struggling to move forward. Except he was traded along the way, landing at Spurs. At the same time, Boston was recovering to the point of going to the Finals a few months later. That must have been frustrating for him…especially when he looks at the sporting situation he finds himself in now.
Indeed, San Antonio should fight for the first pick of the next draft and therefore does not intend to win too many games. For a player like him who has evolved in fairly ambitious franchises in the past, it is not a particularly ideal living environment and it would therefore not be surprising if he leaves soon. However, an anonymous leader revealed to the site Heavy that in this case, several competitors would be ready to welcome it:
Josh Richardson coveted by league leaders
He can play in three positions. He was a substitute playmaker and he can still do that. Miami, everyone’s talking about PJ Tucker, but they need some depth on the wing – can we expect Victor Oladipo to play 82 full games this year? It’s a bet. If you want to transfer Duncan Robinson, with his contract, it may take a rebuilding team to accept him because they can keep him and leave him against another choice later, like Oklahoma City have done so many of times.
It is obvious that he has very good relations with the Heat franchise, he started there. I would also like Richardson to be recruited by the New York Knicks, who need a solid veteran who can play both positions on the wings. They could give away a young player or a pick. The Memphis Grizzlies too, they want to raise the general level of their roster. He matches what they do, he can play three positions.
Note that the connection with Miami is already well established since it was there that he made his NBA debut, after being drafted in the second round. Well supervised by the staff of Erik Spoelstra, he went from a player with little rating to a quality guard, posting nearly 17 points and 4 rebounds during his best season while being an excellent defender. Suffice to say that his profile has indeed something to please and on the side of South Beach, fans would not say no to his return:

That’s a nice jersey swap.
Josh Richardson should not make old bones at Spurs, since he does not really correspond to their reconstruction project. If he does end up leaving, then there should be no shortage of contenders, especially among franchises ready to fight for the top spots.
