It’s not the first time that a Porsche 911 has gone into a top-speed race. But this time it’s a GT3. In other words, the atmospheric Flat-6 will howl up to 9,000 rpm and it’s a nameless pleasure!
The 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 is not the most powerful sports car on the market, nor even the fastest variant of the 911. However, it is undoubtedly a gem of the automotive industry and the one of the most complete sports cars available. On a track, the 911 GT3 is a very efficient tracker, but during the last performance test conducted by our colleagues from AutoTopNL, it was not on a circuit that the German sports car was brought, but on an unrestricted section of the German autobahn.
Under the hood of this 911 GT3, we find an atmospheric 4.0-liter Flat-6 that develops 510 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 470 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. During these GT3 tests, the YouTube channel performed a number of high-speed runs that show how comfortable the car is at over 250 km/h and how fast it can go when pushed hard.
Loud and screaming
During this test, the car’s speedometer exceeded at 319 km/h, which is 2 km/h more than the maximum speed claimed by Porsche for the 911 GT3. It’s hardly surprising how stable the GT3 remains at these speeds and how easy it feels to drive.
But of course, it’s also an opportunity for us to once again hear Porsche’s famous atmospheric Flat-6 screaming at almost 9,000 rpm. And we must admit that this is enough to give us the banana.
