The practice of physical and sports education at school

As schools are not subject to the presentation of a health pass during PE lessons, students and their teachers are therefore exempt in their usual teaching locations (swimming pools, gymnasiums, etc.).

The Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, Jean-Michel Blanquer and the Deputy Minister in charge of Sports, Roxana Maracineanu, are delighted that all students have the opportunity to practice physical activity this start of the school year and that the cycles of learning to swim can resume normally in the school setting.

The teaching of EPS remains subject to compliance with the different levels of the National Education health protocol in force according to the departments *, which will lead to adapting sports practices to the level of circulation of the virus (in particular limiting contact).

Associative practice and in sports facilities

Already in force for adults, the presentation of a health pass becomes compulsory from the age of 12 as of September 30, 2021 in sports facilities as well as in competitions.

Young people who will be 12 years old during the year will have 2 months to present their health pass in order to give them time to complete their vaccination schedule.

Note: as announced by the Prime Minister, for minors, PCR and antigen tests will remain free beyond October 15.

The implementation of the health pass allows all sports practices (with or without contact) and structures (indoor or outdoor) to continue their activity without restriction.

The sanitary pass also allows sporting events to welcome the public at full capacity as soon as the spectators are seated, and with a distance of one meter when the public is standing, in stadiums and sports arenas.

Finally, wearing a mask is not compulsory in the premises where the health pass is required.

Its use – except when playing sports – is however recommended and may be made compulsory by decision of the prefect, the organizer of the event or the operator of the enclosure.
