Hamdi Nagguez back in the Egyptian Premier League

Without a club since the termination of his contract with Zamalek, Hamdi Nagguez has found a base. The Tunisian international (22 caps) has signed up for three years with Al Ismaily SC.

The Carthage Eagles defender joined Zamalek in September 2021 from Espérance de Tunis. But a recruitment ban imposed on the White Knights forced him to sign a loan deal with Al Ahly Jeddah, who terminated his contract a few months later. He then found himself without a club since last January.

The 29-year-old played at Zamalek between 2018 and 2020, before attempting a short fling with Lithuanian side FK Sūduva. He then returned to Tunisia in the jersey of Espérance Sportive de Tunis before returning to Zamalek which sent him to Al Ahly Jeddah, without playing.

Nagguez will try to bounce back with Al Ismaily so he can be competitive as the Qatar 2022 World Cup is just around the corner. It remains to be seen if he will be able to convince Jalel Kadri to recall him to the selection by November.

Al Ismaily SC finished the season in eleventh place in the Egyptian Premier League with 38 points, winning 9 games for 11 draws and 14 losses. The Port Said-based club have scored 27 goals and conceded 39 goals.
