The 37-year-old tennis player Gilles Simon will not play Wimbledon. He lost Monday in straight sets in the first qualifying round of the London tournament.
He had to hope for better after reaching the third round of Roland-Garros in early June. But Gilles Simon, eliminated Monday in the first round of the Wimbledon qualifying tournament, will not see the final table on the London lawn. The 37-year-old Frenchman lost in two sets (6-2, 6-3) to Croatian Duje Ajdukovi, the 235th player in the world. Grégoire Barrère, Antoine Escoffier and Manuel Guinard are also eliminated.
On the other hand, Antoine Hoang and Enzo Couacaud are themselves qualified for the second round. The first will face the Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles, the second the Argentinian Facundo Mena.
