Gianni Infantino (FIFA President) gets involved!
The African Football Confederation (CAF) is finalizing the details before announcing the launch of the new club competition « African Super League », which will replace the CAF Champions League.
This first edition, which will probably take place in 2023, will bring together 24 clubs which will be divided into 3 groups according to predefined geographical zones, namely (North Africa zone / Central and West Africa zone / Southern and East Africa zone).

The clubs ranked in the first 5 places in each zone, in addition to the best 6th, will advance to the round of 16, to start the knockout matches.
According to the “Foot Mercato” site, Gianni Infantino, the president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) will be responsible for finding a new sponsor for this new competition.
“The objective is to maximize profits and achieve financial rewards of more than 20 million dollars” launched a source close to CAF, before continuing “FIFA President Gianni Infantino promised Motsepe to help CAF find sponsors for the Super League. » she continued.
This new interference by the boss of FIFA in African football was not appreciated by a large number of observers, especially since the latter was the instigator of this « suspicious » project which will serve as an antechamber for the governing body of world football.
