Gabriel Moreno is back in Toronto

The Blue Jays have announced that they have recalled pitcher Zach Pop, acquired at the trade deadline from Miami, but also Gabriel Moreno.

Both will be active for tonight’s game.

Moreno had his chance earlier this year in Toronto. He hadn’t done badly, but there was no room for him when Danny Jansen returned and he was sent back to Buffalo.

This means that the three receivers of the Blue Jays roster of 40 players are in Toronto since Zack Collins is now made, via waivers, in Pittsburgh.

He was recalled while the AAA season is not over. Does that mean we want to prepare him for the playoffs in Toronto? After all, both regular receivers in Toronto (Danny Jansen and Alejandro Kirk) are healthy.

Either way, it will be Kirk who will be in uniform.

Do we want to put Kirk more often as DH to give playing time as receiver to the other two? I don’t know, but I’m intrigued.

Also, maybe it’s just to make up for it while Teoscar Hernandez is on the paternity list? It’s possible.

Note that Mitch White was returned to the AAA following his difficult outing yesterday. Who will be the fifth starter? Will Casey Lawrence be recalled? Will Yusei Kikuchi get out of the paddock? That remains to be seen, but I believe Kikuchi is in the paddock to stay.

White could also be called up as the 29th player for the September 13 doubleheader…and until then the club don’t need him.
