According to Italian media, Bayern have made a new offer to Juventus for their 22-year-old defender Matthijs de Ligt. The amount would be 80 million euros including bonus and would therefore approach the requirements of the Old Lady, who would have accepted.
Just hours after reaching an agreement with Barça for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski, Bayern are reviving their interest in Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt. According to multiple Italian and German sources, a new offer of 70 million euros (excluding bonuses) was submitted by the Bavarians to the Old Lady, which was accepted.
An offer of 80 million accepted
The offer would offer 10 million additional bonuses and would therefore approach the 90 million bonuses included initially wanted by Juve. The 22-year-old defender had first agreed on the terms of a five-year deal until 2027, and that same deal was reportedly eventually agreed by both clubs, who were said to be in continuous contact throughout the day in the purpose of finalizing the agreement.
Bayern wanted to reach a verbal agreement with the Bianconeri by tonight and then formalize the deal between Monday and Tuesday.
Oliver Kahn, president of Bayern Munich, previously indicated that talks were ongoing with the Dutch defender. « We have indeed spoken with De Ligt. We have to see how it develops. He wants to come, » Kahn said.
Three options to succeed him
After three seasons in Italy, Matthijs de Ligt will therefore leave Serie A. Juventus paid more than 85 million euros to Ajax in 2019. In Italy, the Dutch international won the national title once, once the Italian Cup and once the Italian Super Cup.
Juventus have even already started to work more intensively on a possible replacement, with three names followed by the Piedmont management. The Bianconeri have reportedly already made contact with Villarreal over Pau Torres.
Juventini would also follow the Brazilian defender of Torino Gleison Bremer assiduously, and according to Sky, the day of Monday could be key in the negotiation between the two Turin clubs. Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes could also be of interest to Juve, as the price set by the Gunners is said to be just 40 million euros.
